Social and economic impacts of London’s ultra low emission vehicle sector

Client:

Greater London Authority

Ecorys UK is currently working with the Greater London Authority and Transport for London to assess the social and economic impacts of London’s ultra low emission vehicle sector. London has a coherent long term plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality through its transport strategy, including the replacement of bus, taxi and public services fleets for ultra low emission alternatives and providing incentives for residents and commuters to make increased use of electric cars. Ecorys UK has been commissioned to baseline and project forward the long term impact of this strategy, based on different scenarios. As well as the environmental benefits, our work focuses on the impact that demand for ultra low emission vehicles in London will have on skilled jobs and growth elsewhere in the UK, through the automotive supply chain.
