Communications Campaign on the Rights and Obligations of International Couples

Client:

DG Justice, European Commission

Currently we are leading a communications campaign for DG Justice, which helps international couples affected by family breakdown to understand two key issues in particular: international parental child abduction and custody and access rights following a divorce or separation. Communicating on these issues requires clarity and sensitivity as the situation of parents may be emotionally fraught and legally complex.

The team, led by Ecorys, has created a live-action video ‘jeopardy’, which highlights the issues of parental child abduction. The second video is a motion graphic covering child custody and access rights. Both are available in all EU languages and are supported with a set of leaflets (digital and print). The materials are being distributed to organisations responsible for advising and supporting families throughout Europe. As well as this, an online media campaign will help make these materials available directly to parents. Ecorys is leading this work with specialist inputs from our consortium partners BBC Studios and Post Production, the European Journalism Centre and Burson-Marsteller.
