Alexandra Park Restoration Project

Manchester City Council

Ecorys were commissioned by Manchester City Council to undertake a series of face to face interviews with people using Alexandra Park in the city's Moss Side area. The survey formed part of a successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Parks for People programme for £2 million to help restore the Park to its original Victorian glory while ensuring it offers a range of activities fit for a 21st century green space. Ecorys used a mix of experienced field interviewers and local volunteers to carry out 500 'quick hit' and 250 'in depth' interviews with people using the park. Local volunteers were given interviewer training and worked alongside experienced interviewers to complete the survey, thus resulting in local community volunteers gaining additional work skills and opportunities.
