Economic Impact Assessments of Redruth Gateway and Brewery Quarter Projects

Client:

Cornwall Development Company

Ecorys undertook an economic impact assessment of two proposed development schemes in Redruth.

The assessment of the Gateway (transport infrastructure) project updated our earlier assessment, conducted in 2012. In addition to estimating temporary employment created by construction work and direct on-going job creation associated with the schemes, the study also considered the extent to which the investment options would help to unlock other nearby sites for mixed-use development, which in turn would help support job creation and GVA through the creation of employment space, and help attract/accommodate new residents through residential development (both of which would be expected to increase footfall in the town centre, supporting retail jobs and the wider regeneration of the town).

The findings provided an input to the business case for EU Convergence funding for the schemes and were undertaken with reference to relevant guidance.
